Teaching

I have taught or currently teach sexuality & sexual health, social and personality psychology, the patient-practitioner relationship, psychopathology, psychological aspects of chronic illness, and child development. I teach and supervise broadly within the Faculty of Health Sciences, specifically in medicine, dentistry, public health, and health sciences programs.

Supervision at all levels and primarily within my primary research and interest areas.

Current research

As of 2024, the research group has the following research programs:

  1. Relationship Research (Children and Youth Track). Project ‘SES NXT’. We are testing the effectiveness of a digital platform called ‘SES NXT’ for children experiencing divorce in a large national randomized trial where the Agency of Family Law and 22 Danish municipalities are research partners.
  2. Relationship Research (Adult Track). Project ‘Divorce in Denmark’. Together with the Rockwool Foundation, we are mapping the health, labor market and financial impact of divorce and union dissolution among families in Denmark and investigating how to reduce (some of) them.
  3. Sexuality Research. Project ‘Anxiety and Sexuality’. We are examining the connection between anxiety disorders and sexuality, including whether and how sexuality is communicated with patients in 11 anxiety clinics across Denmark, who participate in the study.
  4. Sexuality Research. Project ‘Sindex’. In collaboration with Sinful ApS, we are looking at the extent of sex toy use, sexual communication, and faking orgasms in six European countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, and England).
  5. Family Research. Project ‘Family Autism’. Through a joint questionnaire- and register study in Australia and Denmark, we are investigating the mental health of parents of children with an autism spectrum disorder. Specifically, we are looking at prevalence rates of depression, anxiety, stress, and PTSD among parents of children with an autism spectrum disorder.

In addition to the above, I have various smaller or shorter-term projects related to my research areas and interests.

Possible conflicts of interest

In 2017 I founded the company 'Samarbejde Efter Skilsmisse ApS' (SES) as a spin out from the University of Copenhagen. I am now a partner in and part owner of SES. SES is a SaaS company that offers digital health technology to divorced and blended families across the Nordic Countries.

SES has cooperation with the University of Copenhagen, Department of Public Health in relation to research and product trails. I am actively involved in these.

However, due to possible conflict of interest all research design, handling of data and data analyses are approved and governed by the Head of Department and all posible conflict of interest declared in publications.
